The Santiago Project

Ok, about 10 years ago I started carving the fleets from the Spanish American War out of balsa.  Now I'm looking at finishing off the job and then running a game on the battle of Santiago at the local convention in May.

Here's a look at the fleets to date

USS New York, USS Iowa and USS Indiana
From the Armada Espanol, the Vicaya, Cristobal Colon and Audez

  1. Nice models, where are they from?

Glad to see I am not the only SPAN-AM enthusiast out there.

Thanks. These are home made scratch builds.

  4. PD, those look great. I am especially impressed with the Spanish destroyer. I find that hull to be very hard to "get right". What size are your models?

Thanks fort the comment- I love your ships too.
They are 1:1200(ish). I aim to get the basic hull shape to scale, and then try to get the overall look right rather than exactly to scale.
