Marking

Day three of marking in the bag, I should be done tomorrow mid pm.  Marking necessities include red pens, coffee, iTunes, walks, bag stretches twice a day, ergonomic marking table to avoid back damage, fire arm to deal with large chickens and dancing girls to keep me awake...(ok maybe a couple of those items are in my dreams)

It will be done by Friday night.

  1. Having worked in Education for over 40 years I have seen your dilemma many times.

I offered one solution to an academic colleague who considered it to be a better solution than traditional marking.

Take all the papers to be marked in one pile.

Throw them all up in the air.

Catch as many of them as you can before they hit the floor. Mark them as fails. Pass the rest.

I am not sure if my method was used in practice. Seeing what comes out of some of our educational establishments I sometimes wonder!

  2. Peter,
Been there, done that....AS Victor McLaglen said in "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon" I'm now a "retired gentleman." Wait until you retire and you can fill your days with as much reading, painting and play as you want limited only by the intrusions from the "real world." One consolation for now - once the papers are graded you won't have to do it again for a while.
